Introduction to Aircraft Interiors Interace Loads and Stress analysis and Certification. (One day course)
The Aircraft Interior Courses:
Aircraft interiors such as Stowage units, Galleys and Flight Crew Rest Compartments (FCRCs) require structural certification for airworthiness. The certification procedure of aircraft interiors includes the major structural documents of;
- The Interface Loads report
- The Stress Analysis report
The courses offered include the following:
- Stowage Unit
- Determination of Interface Loads and Typical Report structure
- Stress Analysis of Stowage Unit and typical Report Structure
- Flight Crew Rest Compartment (FCRC)
- Model Construction of FCRC
- Determination of Interface Loads and Typical Report structure
- Stress Analysis of FCRC and typical Report Structure
- Galley Structures
- Model Construction of Galley Structures
- Determination of Interface Loads and Typical Report structure
- Stress Analysis of Galley Structures and typical Report Structure

All reports should be detailed, logical and comprehensive enough to provide convincing high quality analytical methodology and data to enable the ever diligent document checking authority to approve the submitted documents with little question.
For example, the one day seminar on Stowage unit Interface Load report reveals a progressive methodology, associated FEA and mathematical analysis. FEA model build and quality checks, contents weight, location and centre of gravity determination and analytical
confirmation. Body loading and internal contents loading technique, leading to the method of obtaining the all important Interface loads. This presentation should cover most
aspects necessary to produce a detailed and confident document.

Who should Attend
The seminar is suitable for stress or Certification Engineers, Technical managers and Consultants with
little or no experience on producing structural certification documents, in particular if they are experiencing difficulty in obtaining acceptance of the submitted
reports
Seminar Leader:
Dr. Warren Leigh has worked on over seven different types of aircraft during his career from the;
- BAe 146, (1984)
- Shorts SD360 (1986)
- T45-Goshawk
- A320, A330, A340 to the A380 and Boeing 777
This includes Aircraft Galleys, Stowage Units and Flight Crew Rest Compartments (FCRC). The composite Crew rest bed on the A380 he designed and is the believed to be the world’s lightest weight at 12kgs. Since 2000 he has worked for British-based aircraft interior companies. He has produced Interface Load and Stress reports for airlines that include Afriqiyah Airways, Air Namibia, Britannia Airways, Cathay Pacific, China Eastern Airlines, Etihad Airways, GECAS, Iberia, Sichuan Airlines, South African Airways, Thai Airways, Thomson and Turkish Airlines.
He has held meetings with the Certification approval consultancy in their offices Hamburg, Germany to appreciate and implement their strict vetting and high quality requirements for the approval of submitted Certification documents. Dr. Leigh has 40 years engineering experience.
