Introduction Optimisation of: Lugs, Tubular & Multi-Discipline Optimisation. (One day course)

Optimal designs objective is usually of minimum weight which helps to reduce cost of components and emissions. Lug design is influenced by the loading they experience, preferred geometric aspect ratios and pin bearing pressures. The design of lugs in conventional spreadsheets is time consuming and the solution does not guarantee minimum weight is achieved. The course will show how to use a commercial software "VisualDoc" to quickly arrive at the minimum weight solution and respect the constraints for the design of lugs and tubular components. Usually,aspects of various disciplines (eg. structural integrity, weight, cost, etc) compete and influence the design of a component. The course shows how to link all the various input disciplines to produce a minimum weight part that respects all the constraints-MDO.
